FAQ

Q.
Is coaching a mental health service?
A.
Coaching is not counselling, psychology, therapy or other mental health service. Coaching can support well-being, personal growth, and resilience, however it does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Sound mental health is a pre-requisite for coaching and if you are unsure we recommend to seek advice from your GP.
Q.
What happens if it rains?
A.
A little bit of rain won’t hurt us, so there may be times when we wear wet weather gear, go out and enjoy the elements. The weather won’t always be gentle though, and safety is our first priority so may need to either reschedule or do the session online, in accordance with our Contingency Policy and depending on weather forecasts, your preferences and our availability.
Q.
I am not very fit, will this be a problem?
A.
No, this doesn’t need to stop you. We will tailor the program to suit your fitness level.
Q.
I have special requirements, can you accommodate me?
A.
Give us a call. We will work with you and try our best to accommodate your needs.
Q.
Do you guarantee outcomes for developmental coaching?
A.
Developmental coaching can be extremely effective, however the work is done by you. Your effort (vulnerability, ability to take on new information, commitment to show up and practice) will be the biggest influence on the outcome.
Q.
Will I have to travel to the locations?
A.
We come to outdoor locations close to you. The whole idea is to connect you to outdoor spaces that you can use regularly with or without your coach.
Q.
What should I bring to my outdoor coaching session?
A.
-
Sun protection (eg. hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, collared long sleeved shirt).
-
Drinking water.
-
Shoes suitable for walking, hiking or exercising in.
Q.
What qualifications and checks do the program leaders have?
A.
The program leaders have the following qualifications and checks:
-
Relevant coaching certificate
-
First Aid certificate (including CPR)
-
Working with Children Check
Q.
How does Natural Progress manage risks?
A.
Natural Progress complies with the relevant laws and regulations. Our risk management system aligns with the Australian Adventure Activity Standards and Best Practice Guidelines. We manage risk in the following ways.
-
Qualified Staff: Minimum requirements of staff qualifications (eg First Aid certificate, Working with Children Check).
-
Policies, procedures and training: for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk, including activity-based risk assessments, forward planning of activities and day-of-activity review against risk factors including weather. Staff are trained on the policies and procedures, how to avoid and mitigate risks and how to respond to an accident, medical incident or emergency.
-
Reporting, review and improvement: Incidents are reported and analysed for improvement opportunities, feedback is sought on risk and safety systems which are regularly reviewed and updated for continual improvement.
